ZENJIRO green tea is a green tea that incorporates the world-renowned Japanese Zen禅 philosophy. The concept is to practice Zen in your daily life, aiming for your own way of life, thanking for all things, saving waste, and aiming for a sincere lifestyle. The name of ZENJIRO禅地朗 is derived from the name of the place where our company is located, Ozenji 王禅寺(King’s Zen temple). This temple is one of the oldest temples where tea was consumed 1200 years ago.

This product is the highest rank among the green teas produced in Japan that boasts safety and high quality. It uses best terroir's rare tea leaves with all the good tea production conditions. Even if you spend a lot of time at home in new-corona virus era and tend to gain weight, it is effective for slimming, lipolysis around the abdomen, and detox for constipation prevention. 


The basic method is simply sugar-free and extract with soft water at 10℃ for over 15 minutes. This is the base tea for various applications. This extracts theanine, which is a umami component and enhances autoimmunity, and the immune-activating epigallocatechin EGC. This style is similar to Japanese DASHI 出汁 stock (European stock or French von). The secret to the deliciousness of Japanese food is to make a good DASHI soup stock. In addition, epigallocatechin gallate EGCG, which is one of the catechins, decomposes fat and has a high antioxidant effect. EGCG can be abundantly extracted by extracting tea leaves with cold water and then heating. This is a unique feature of the non-fermented Japanese tea. In other words, a base tea with a delicious taste, improved immunity, slimming due to lipolysis, and detox can be completed.

 

ZENJIRO's real cafeteria offers a variety of drink menus. Mino-Shirakawa has the highest altitude in Japan's tea production area, and the mist rising from the river at an altitude of 800m to the mountains blocks the sunlight a little and the tea leaves become very soft. Mino Shirakawa is a very rare green tea that produces only 1/1000 of Japan's total production, and the share of green tea production in the world is only 0.004%.

Oxidation is a risk for Japanese tea. It is okay to consume it, but as it oxidizes it approaches the black tea. The unopened bag has less than 3% oxygen, so there is no problem as the expiration date for 2 years. However, after opening the bag, fold the open part of the aluminum tea bag and release the air enough, and stop it with a rubber or stopper. Oxidation can be prevented more than transferring to a can.

  • Japanese green tea, unlike black tea and Chinese tea, is categorized into non-fermented tea, and is a beverage that you can enjoy by extracting the components. The best before date is actually effective for more than 2 years because it is sealed and packaged, but care must be taken since oxidation after opening will impair the flavor and reduce the active ingredients unique to Japanese green tea. Oxidized green tea components change to fermented tea components like black tea. Storage in cans, such as those found in Chinese tea shops, is not favorable. It is best to seal unused parts after opening and store them in a refrigerator if possible. The temperature does not need to be overly concerned, but be careful with oxidation.

     

    If possible, extract with soft water. Hard water is good for enclosing umami taste in meat, while soft water is effective at extracting ingredients into water. In our experiments comparing hard water and soft water, extraction with hard water has a beautiful color, but it does not smell and has less umami components, making it harder to pass through the throat.

     

    This third note is very important. This means that the components that are extracted vary with temperature. It is recommended generally that theanine, a component of high-quality tea, be extracted at around 60 degrees. The simple rule of thumb is that it is not difficult to make the proper temperature right by pouring 2/3 of boiling water and 1/3 of cold water. Theanine can also be extracted with cold water. In our experiments, we were able to extract a satisfactory state in 10-15 minutes. Theanine will not be broken if the temperature does not exceed 80 degrees even if the green tea extracted with cold water is heated in a microwave oven. When one cup of cold water is heated in a 500W microwave oven, it depends on the material of the cup, but about 60 seconds is OK. 

     

    We know that most non-Japanese drink habits of green tea with sugar. However, Japanese people basically do not add sugar to sencha. It may simply be a traditional practice that has long been used as a medicine. We respect local customs. But try a green tea without sugar.

     

    For Japanese snacks such as onigiri (rice ball) and ochazuke (rice with green tea soup), tea leaves can be finely chopped and used as a topping material. It is better to add salt lightly because the tea leaves themselves have no taste. Even in that case, can use the second and subsequent tea leaves. It is up to you to match the tea leaves ingredients to the dishes of each country and your cooking style.

     

    Tea-specific catechins are components that are effective in disinfecting, antioxidant, antiviral, and lowering cholesterol. It is also effective when you want to refresh your mouth with a greasy meal or when you want to diet to prevent diabetes. If your menu is characterized by diet and healthy, it is very reasonable to offer a sencha beverage together. It is all right before, during and after meals, not just hot drinks but cold drinks. Catechin is not destroyed at a temperature of 100 degrees even when extracted with boiling water.

     

    It is also used as a mouthwash in Japan for sterilization and antiviral use. It is also used as a deodorizing effect to remove fish and other odors, and is also used as a table cleaner. It is not so rare that catechin-containing hygiene products are being sold in Japan.

    Catechin still remains in the post brewed tea leaves. You can use to gargle, or to sterilize tables, chairs, doorknobs, etc. Catechin attaches to the spikes, which are the protrusions of the virus infection, and reduces the infectivity by neutralizing the spikes. There are several types of viral spikes, but research has shown that catechin is effective in all types.
